A porcupine causes chaos on I’m A Celebrity Australia

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia is currently in full swing with a number of grisly challenges and death-defying encounters.

But the hit show, filmed in the wilds of South Africa, was plunged into chaos over the course of a few days when a rogue porcupine chowed down on fibre optic cables and caused ten cameras to black out.

‘First we were suspecting a fallen tree or rock,’ the show’s production’s technical manager Roy Callow told Sydney Confidential before revealing they set up a camera trap which caught the creature in the act.

With the first outage in four years, the production crew were left confused after cameras started going down despite using ‘tougher Armoured cable for bush use.’

After attempting to resolve the issue by using spare lines, the issue continued causing the team to hire ‘eco guys’.

Following a lengthy search, the team found a porcupine, which the Sydney Confidential have nicknamed Porky, nibbling away at the cables.

Callow described the situation: ‘It was basically digging the tree roots in the ground around the cable to eat. Once we realised this was the case it became clear it had chomped down on the tree root with cable in the way.’

‘And Diana always thought it was her fault that mummy had left home. She blamed herself. That’s where her anorexia started.

‘She suffered with it all her life. She punished herself. It’s a tough gig, to have her mother walk. She came back into her life later.’

Paul was asked by some of the other contestants if she ever forgave her mother.

‘Yeah. But she said, “My mother only wants me to go to the best restaurant tables in London and to go to Wimbledon.” ‘Wow… I thought, “Holy, should you be telling me this? But do go on”.’

Paul also said of Diana’s mother, ‘She wasn’t a very kind person. Not very motherly.

‘No, Diana was a daughter that came very late and she left her husband and Earl Spencer and went to Australia.’

In the months leading up to the Princess’s death, the pair were tragically not on speaking terms.

When Diana died, staunch catholic Frances turned to her faith for solace when forced to grieve in the glare of a media frenzy as millions mourned the Princess.
