Fans speculated that famous rivals Kyle Sandilands and Rove McManus would be entering the African jungle for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after the show hinted that ‘two icons in the middle of Australia’s biggest feud’ were taking part.
But Rove firmly denied the rumours on Tuesday night while speaking to Yahoo Be on the red carpet at the Sydney premiere of I, Tonya.
When asked about the gossip, the 44-year-old implied he was above participating in reality television – a rather surprising admission for a man who once hosted the 2DayFM breakfast radio show with former Bachelorette Sam Frost.

While denying rumours he was taking part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on Tuesday, Rove McManus (left) appeared to take a swipe at reality TV stars, suggesting they lacked credibility. He once hosted a 2DayFM breakfast show with The Bachelorette’s Sam Frost (right)
Responding to a question about the I’m A Celebrity speculation, Rove said: ‘Never! Never! Because I have credibility, so I’m good.’
Making his position clear, he added: ‘It will never, ever, underlined italics, happen.’
When the reporter suggested it was a ‘shame’ Rove wouldn’t be signing up, he responded: ‘No, it’s not… I care not to be humiliated with worms. It’s not for me.’
‘I care not to be humiliated with worms’: Claiming he was ‘too credible’ for the series, Rove’s comments could be interpreted as a swipe at contestants who have appeared on the show
Claiming he was ‘too credible’ for the Network Ten series, Rove’s comments could be interpreted as a swipe at former contestants who have appeared on the show.
Previous contestants include singer Casey Donovan, My Kitchen Rules star Ash Pollard, actress Natalie Bassingthwaighte, and Myer ambassador Kris Smith.
While he was referring specifically to I’m A Celebrity, Rove’s aversion to reality TV will likely raise eyebrows among listeners of his axed 2DayFM breakfast show.
Rove hosted the show for a year alongside Sam Frost, a former contestant on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette who was offered the role without any prior radio broadcasting experience.
Not happening! It comes after rumours swirled Rove and his longtime rival Kyle Sandilands (pictured) would be entering the African jungle for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
What will Sam say? While he was referring specifically to I’m A Celebrity, Rove’s aversion to reality TV will likely raise eyebrows among listeners of his axed 2DayFM breakfast show
In December, a cryptic clue released by Ten had viewers guessing if former late-night TV host Rove would be roughing it in the jungle alongside KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands.
Rove and Kyle share a 14-year feud which began after Rove apparently made comments about Kyle’s ex-wife Tamara Jaber and her short-lived music career.
