The alleged body-shaming of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Simone Holtznagel has gone political.
On Friday, blonde bombshell model Simone, 24, proved she’s got friends in high places when Sydney’s Deputy Lord Mayor slammed radio personality Mick Molloy for comparing the beauty to a ‘baby elephant’.
In an impassioned letter, titled ‘Being a kicka**e woman’, the local government official calls the comedian’s comment a ‘desperate and misogynistic cry for attention.’ But Mick says it was a harmless ‘joke.’
Gone political! I’m A Celebrity’s Simone Holtznagel has been defended by Sydney’s Deputy Lord Mayor Jess Miller, who has slammed the radio personality for what she says was a misogynistic rant
Responding to Mick calling the model, who has worked internationally, a ‘plus size model,’ and seeming to compare her to a ‘baby elephant,’ the Lord Mayor was brutal in her rebuke.
‘I, like so many people saw and heard what the idiot *ick Malloy said about you on radio and we all see what it is – a desperate, misogynistic cry for attention from an old, dull over the hill man trying to steal your light,’ she said.
Sisterhood! Sydney’s Deputy Lord Mayor Jess Miller has hit out at the comedian, and offered her support to Simone, saying he’s an ‘over-the-hill man trying to steal her light’
Then offering the model a bit of encouragement: ‘It’s easy to get hurt feelings, but remember the sisterhood has your back and we are fierce.’
On Thursday, the Triple M host’s Kennedy Molloy drive show, the 51-year-old accused Simone, 24, of being too large to be a model, in comments that left co-host Jane Kennedy shocked.
Mick said of Simone: ‘She claims to be a model of some description. She claims to be a world class international model. I call bulls**t on that.’
‘I mean, maybe a plus-size model,’ he continued.

At the time, co-host Jane Kennedy was outraged, saying: ‘Excuse me, that’s incredibly rude of you’.
But Mick continued: ‘She’s been in the jungle for 10 weeks now and still…’ Mick added, before humming the Baby Elephant Walk.
‘I beg your pardon,’ Kennedy said to Molloy. ‘That is so pathetic.’

However, Mick has since walked back the comments, saying it was only a joke and offering-up a seemingly half hearted apology.
‘Yes, I joked about her appearance,’ he said, after the backlash.
‘By the way, she’s a model. I think you’re allowed to talk about a model’s appearance and on a comedy show where you’re known as an idiot and you happen to be as fat as a house yourself,’ he continued.

But Mick didn’t stop there, adding: ‘I think you’re entitled to make a joke … clearly she’s not a plus-size model,’ he said.
Simone, who is currently in the South African jungle, has enjoyed an illustrious career after appearing on Australia’s Next Top Model in 2011.
The genetically-blessed model has posed for Playboy and featured in campaigns for Guess and other high-profile brands.

It comes after Mick claimed that same day that TV reality stars need to be ‘more interesting’, while insisting that the nation’s best talent are now working in radio.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the comedian said people working on the airwaves have ‘opinions’ and ‘aren’t afraid to be controversial’ in a way that reality stars are.
‘If you look around, all the best people in radio are far more interesting than the people in TV,’ he said.
