The days of endlessly swiping and awkward first liner GIFs are gone. Whilst the Tinder boom spawned a series of online App rivals, consumers have grown tired of swiping through users curated social media profiles. The thrill of a match is not what it used to be because people no longer engage with each other. Meeting up has also lost its spark because through ruthless stalking you already know where the person went on holiday 4 years ago.
Enter social concierge. Social concierge are changing the way people date by introducing real-world membership only dating events. The events are highly curated to ensure it’s not just another one of those speed dating events. Since it’s pride month, we’d like to talk about their LGBTQ+ arm – Mr. Social.
Enter Mr. Social
Mr. Social presents a curated party experience for gay professionals to connect at luxurious clubs around London. They run on a quarterly basis at some of London’s best venues launching last quarter with a partnership with Chappy.
Kevin May, Mr. Social himself, remarks:“Mr. Social is more than just an alternative to other gay parties in London – it’s a series that promotes and facilitates a genuine connection between gay men who are looking for something a bit more tangible and personal.”
So why is Mr. Social different? A couple of reasons. Firstly, the stringent membership application process mentioned above ensures its not one of those gropey sleaze fests. Secondly, the venues and drinks inspire real connections rather than drunken 2am messages. Thirdly, the events happen during the daytime…and the next one’s on a roof terrace with complimentary prosecco flowing. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Mr. Social provide Crowd Mixologists to mix up the singles and introduce them to other members. This means that you’ll never be by yourself for long.
The next event takes place on July 14th at the Century private members club in Soho, London. The theme is ‘Paradise Lost’ with a dancefloor downstairs and a rooftop party upstairs. Mr. Social are also providing a ‘Mr. Quickie’ corner where you get a speed date over a free shot. What more could you want?
The last event was a sell-out, with the waiting list for the next event far outstripping the number of places. The Idle Man is proud to support LGBTQ+ and is offering our readers a unique access code to the application process for Mr. Social to ensure you’re fast-tracked. Just post ‘IDLEMAN’ in the application code box to make sure you jump the queue.

What To Wear
Mr. Social is more sophisticated than your average speed dating event, so we’d recommend investing in a statement piece for the event like the ones below. It’s got to be Folk, Albam or Saturdays NYC for me. Paired with a nice pair of Idle cropped chinos and air force ones, you’re sure to grab attention whilst also looking relaxed and sophisticated. Perfect for the surroundings.
