Basketball legend James Harden has always been keen on his fashion and sneakers. Now, adidas and Yohji Yamamoto have honoured him a collection in collaboration with their Y-3 brand. We’ve got the latest right here at The Idle Man, read on to find out more.
This year, sport style pioneers Y-3 are launching a whole capsule dedicated to Houston Rockets superstar James Harden. The launch will coincide with 747 Warehouse St, a two day festival that celebrates creativity and basketball culture, held annually in Los Angeles by adidas. The collection is adorned with the “botan flower”, a traditional emblem that signifies bravery, honour, respect, and good fortune. These are all qualities which James Harden follows, and prides himself upon.
The collection features a whole range of apparel, including a bomber jacket, tailored shirt, and cropped pants. However, it is the footwear that’s the main attraction here. A brand new silhouette titled the “Y-3 BYW BBALL” is launching. The silhouette takes court style inspiration and brings it to the streets. “BYW” stands for “BOOST you wear”, and pays tribute to 90’s basketball silhouettes featuring pod like midsoles, whilst still utilising modern day Boost technology. The upper is constructed from highly flexible neoprene, and features a unique zig-zag lacing system.
If you’re as keen as we are on this capsule, the good news is that you won’t have to wait too long. The collection will launch exclusively in LA at 747 Warehouse St on the 16th and 17th of February, with a wider global release scheduled for sometime in April. There’s been no news on how limited the product will be yet, or anything regarding pricing, but keep your eyes peeled for the latest.
