Fresh crepe-soled kicks from Yeezy Season 6 are now available online.
As the sneaker world anxiously awaits this weekend’s ultra-limited Yeezy 500 “Desert Rat” release, Kanye West is keeping customers satisfied with a brand new pair of sneakers from his Yeezy Season brand. These new kicks aren’t made with Adidas, however, which makes them the first Kanye West sneaker ever made without the aid of a larger company. And that shows: This low-top style featured a distressed tan suede upper and a thick crepe sole, which basically puts them somewhere between a desert boot and a sneaker (a.k.a. much more subdued than your average pair of Yeezys).
These new sneakers share plenty with the crepe-soled boots that Yeezy Season has been making since Season 2, just in a low-top format. They also mark the latest expansion of the Yeezy Season footwear lineup, which already includes military-style boots (and heels for women) and recently added Chelsea boots. It seems like Mr. West won’t sleep until his label is occupying all corners of your footwear lineup, from your hyped-up sneakers to your suited-and-booted go-tos, particularly in nubby suede. That said, we don’t expect these crepe-soled kicks, which retail for $400 and don’t feature any Yeezy branding or a particularly unique design, to be flooding the resale market anytime soon. But that also means you’ll actually have time to sit back and think about whether or not you actually want these shoes or are just buying into Yeezy hype, and that’s a refreshing change of pace for any sneaker designed by Kanye West. That, and the fact that you can currently purchase them without first selling a kidney.
