AFL star Jason Akermanis may be joining I’m A Celebrity


It’s the hit survival reality show that has been teasing fans with cryptic clues surrounding the top-secret cast of the 2018 season.

And it seems AFL great Jason Akermanis might be heading into the jungle for the upcoming season of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! with his management team all but confirming his inclusion with a terse but telling: ‘yes, might be.’

The show’s producers took to Facebook on Thursday to drop the hint which read: ‘Facebook exclusive: we’ve got an extra clue for the AFL STAR, all you have to do is unscramble the words below.’

A graphic, showing the letters ‘PEREHSTMRHIEEIRPS’ was posted under the comment which fans quickly deciphered to read: ‘three premierships.’

Jason Akermanis won three back-to-back premierships with the Brisbane Lions in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and fans were quick to point out this fact.

‘Three Premierships!!It’s definitely Jason Akermanis. 2001, 2002 and 2003,’ one eagle-eyed fan wrote. 

‘Would laugh if the next clue is “Brownlow” because he has one of those too. 2001!’

While other AFL names were bandied about such as John Platten and Josh Gibson, who have also won three premierships, the general consensus among fans was that it would be Jason heading into the jungle this year. 

Ralph Carr, managing director of Ralph Carr Management, who look after Jason, told Daily Mail Australia  that the former Brisbane Lion could very well be joining the hit reality show.

‘Yes, might be,’ Ralph tersely said.

A spokesperson from Network Ten refused to confirm Jason’s inclusion.

‘Network Ten does not confirm or deny any speculation about the identities of rumoured celebrities. The impressive I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! line up will be revealed to Australia on Sunday 28 January at 7.30pm,’ the spokesperson said.

The show teased another clue relating to the top-secret AFL star in December that read: ‘AFL Star: This premiership-winning player was known for his HAIR RAISING play. 

This clue also led fans to speculate the star in question was Jason as he is known for his trademark spiky blonde locks.

The show has a release date of January 28, and has been offering ‘clues’ since early December last year.

Already Rove McManus, Kyle Sandilands, Glenn Robbins, Jacqui Lambie and Mercedes Corby have been tipped to be a part of the series.
