Will Bernard Tomic still get paid for I’m A Celebrity?

He was rumoured to be earning up to $1 million for his role on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

But after quitting the jungle just three days in, questions remain over whether Bernard Tomic will pick up his paycheck.

Speaking to Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa on Wednesday, I’m A Celebrity producer Alex Mavridarkis weighed in on whether the tennis star will still get his payday.

Bernard sensationally quit the jungle on Tuesday after struggling through a tucker trial and admitting to camp mates he was depressed.

Discussing the news with Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli, producer Alex offered some insight into how celebrities are paid for their time in the jungle.

‘One question everyone has been asking is does he get paid Alex?’ Fitzy asked.

Keeping things cryptic, Alex replied: ‘I would never comment on the celebrities’ pay checks, but afterwards I’ll give you Brendan Fevola and Shane Warne’s phone numbers and I guarantee they’ll spill the beans for you.’

‘That’s where we get our answers from,’ Fitzy answered.  ‘Fev did say,if you leave the house it’s in the contract, or you leave the jungle it’s in the contract that you don’t get paid.’

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia a Ten spokesperson said payment was ‘not a factor’ in Bernard’s departure.

‘Details of celebrity contracts are confidential. Bernard did not make his decision lightly, and any potential financial implications were not a factor in his decision making process,’ they said.

Alex said he was in two minds about Bernard quitting, admitting the tennis star had disrupted their plans for the season.

‘Half of me is angry with him because he’s messed up a whole load of plans that we had in place,’ Alex said.

‘But the other half of me wishes him all the best, he’s obviously just confused about where he is in life, and he just wants to get back in place and play tennis.’

Prior to entering the jungle, Bernard was rumoured to be earning a hefty paycheck for his role on I’m A Celebrity.

The Herald Sun claimed the tennis star had been ‘bragging’ about being offered $1 million to appear in the jungle.

But the report was refuted by Channel Ten, who told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Recent press speculation regarding rumoured celebrity payments are grossly over-inflated and simply false.’
